REAL-TIME SPECTROGRAPH

Start listening above to view spectrograph

The Real Time Spectrograph shows all of your singing bowls overtones.

This Singing Bowl Tuner App is easy to use. Simply strike your singing bowl and click "Start Analysis" to detect pitch. This Frequency Analyzer will automatically determine the Note, Octave, Frequency, and Cent Value of the first, second, and third harmonic. This works with Himalayan Singing Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls, Gongs, and many other Sound Therapy Instruments.

Choose from multiple Tuning Standards including 420, 432, 440, and 448 Hz. Save your bowl analysis as a JSON file directly to your device for your records.

About & Contact

This singing bowl tuner uses your device's microphone to detect the fundamental frequency and harmonics of singing bowls and sound therapy instruments in real-time.

Features

  • Real-time frequency analysis with FFT peak detection
  • Linear spectrograph with peak labeling
  • Session history with tuning standard tracking
  • Save and label bowls by instrument type
  • Tone generator for reference pitches
  • 420, 432, 440, and 448 Hz tuning standards
  • Dark mode support

Reading the Results

  • Hz (Hertz) – The actual frequency the bowl is producing, measured in cycles per second. Lower Hz = lower pitch; higher Hz = higher pitch. Each detected harmonic shows its own Hz value.
  • Target – The exact reference frequency the detected note should be at your selected tuning standard. For example, A4 at 440 Hz tuning has a target of 440.00 Hz. Comparing the detected Hz to the target shows whether the bowl is in tune. The target value changes if you switch to 420, 432, or 448 Hz standards.
  • Cents (¢) – A precise measure of how far the detected pitch deviates from the target. 100 cents = one semitone. The tuner displays cents at 0.1¢ resolution (Peterson Strobe-grade). Color coding: green ≤ 1¢ (in tune), yellow ≤ 5¢ (close), orange > 5¢ (off). A "+" cents value means the bowl is sharp (above target); "−" means flat (below target).
  • dB (Decibels) – The loudness/energy level of the detected frequency in the spectrum. Larger negative numbers mean quieter (e.g. −70 dB is very quiet, −35 dB is loud). The "peak" dB shown in pill labels is the median dB observed for that harmonic during analysis — the strongest harmonics produce louder dB readings.
